Question

Secondary repositories - DS Users without Manage Trustees Privilege are ready only users

asked on June 24, 2021

We had a client add 2 secondary repositories to their server, in these repositories Repository Users can access the system in full, but all Full Licensed Directory Server Users are read-only users unless they have the Manage Trustee privilege added to their account.

We found this through brute force changing individual settings until locking down the exact one that would free their read-only restriction.

Why do DS users need this privilege to write to secondary repositories?

My guess is the checkbox for "only allow read-only access". If a user is a member of any groups with this box, they'll only have read-only access.

Well we spent an hour making sure this is not the case. The order I check is to see if the user is read only, then to see if any groups they are a member of are read only, then to see if they have a participant license.

Then we created a new directory server users off domain without adding to any groups and they were also read only.

So it appears if you create additional repositories, all users are read only regardless of this checkbox being checked.

It sounds like the users do not have a license, or the license is not being read by the Laserfiche Server.

I recommend checking (1) that the users are are properly licensed in LFDS then (2) whether the repository registers the users as having a license. You can add a user individually to the repository administration console to check.

There is a column in the users view, which shows license type of Full

It does sound like your best bet is to troubleshoot with support. This is not the expected behavior, nor is it a known issue --- and it sounds like a common setup.

What does Administration Console say for allowed repositories?  Avante only allows one repository.

It looks the same as yours, 1000 maximum repositories.

That's odd, I have 10+ repositories on a server and everything works as expected
