Currently, Laserfiche Workflow does not register itself with LFDS unless it is an older licensing model. It would really nice if it did so LFDS could be an all-in-one stop to see where all of the different Laserfiche applications resided.

Feature Request: Register Laserfiche Workflow with LFDS
Replies
Hi Blake,
As you know, LFDS isn't that one-stop place for your system, and for applications like Workflow that don't require it, we've been erring on the side of minimizing admin and licensing steps. Workflow is the specific module you're asked about, but there are a number of other modules that similarly aren't tracked.
However, this isn't the only time I've heard such a request. So while we likely won't implement it, I do want to hear a little more.
The biggest concern is tension between ease-of-use for getting started with applications that don't require LFDS vs. doing the work to register them all in LFDS. As someone who administers Laserfiche for customers, are you saying you'd rather have to always register all instances than simple be able to use the application?
The other concern is noise; when a machine is decommissioned, it's not always cleaned up for applications with unlimited instances.
Brianna,
I can understand not doing it for all applications. I would think that would apply more to client-side applications though than server-side applications. I would personally like it if at least the server-side applications were registered in LFDS.
I'll give a couple cents here. First off, this strikes me as one of those "be careful what you wish for" type things. But yes, I think it would be very helpful to have one place to go to get details about all the server-side applications. In particular, I'd like to be able to see the currently installed version and, from LFDS, push updates to selected instances.
Hi Blake,
This is unlikely to happen as Workflow 9+ were deliberately designed to eliminate the application licensing requirement. Workflow instead "inherits" its license status through its connection to a monitored repository on a licensed Laserfiche Server instance.
If you want to use LFDS as a tracker for what components you have installed and where, I suggest simply manually registering an instance of Workflow 8.0 in LFDS and not doing anything with the license file itself. Takes all of a few seconds.
