Question

Enable scanning on more than one Web Browser

asked on June 7, 2021

I currently have scanning installed and working with Chrome browser, however I've been working in the new chromium Edge browser and when I attempt to scan in that browser I'm prompted to download and install Desktop Scanning (which is already installed) and I cannot install into the Edge browser as the install says it's already installed.

How can I have scanning configured in more than one browser on my PC?  Is there something I can edit for Edge to get it to recognize that I already have scanning installed?

10.4.2 and higher uses WebTools Agent to look for and launch Scanning and the Office plug-in. Take a look under the Options\Advanced menu (from your user name in the top right corner) and make sure WebTools Agent is installed, running and has a port available.

I uninstalled the Webtools agent and re-installed it but still have this:

It sounds like something else is using those ports, so WebTools Agent fails to get hold of one.

Is this a terminal server setup with multiple users logged into the machine simultaneously?

This is on my laptop - I've created incoming & outgoing rules on the Windows firewall.  Do I need to create a rule on my Web Client server for incoming or incoming and outgoing?  Are these TCP ports or UDP?

You shouldn't need to open up ports in the firewall, that communication is all local to the machine where the browser is.

It's probably best that you get a hold of your reseller and open a support case so we can properly investigate it.
