Question

Separate a document when barcode changes...

asked on June 6, 2021 Show version history

Hi, I have a case in LF Quick Fields. We scan batch of papers with multiple set of barcodes. For instance, first 5 pages showing same barcode. Next couple of pages may contain different barcode and so on. Considering that every page has a barcode like below scenario.

  • Page 1 Barcode: 10001
  • Page 2 Barcode: 10001
  • Page 3 Barcode: 10001
  • Page 4 Barcode: 10002
  • Page 5 Barcode: 10002
  • Page 6 Barcode: 10003
  • Page 7 Barcode: 10004
  • Page 8 Barcode: 10004
  • Page 9 Barcode: 10003
  • Page 10 Barcode: 10002

Can Quick give me 4 documents for each barcode (10001, 10002, 10003 & 10004)? I want to split a document whenever barcode changes in batch scanning and merge into it's respective barcode document.

I hope problem is clear to understand as I didn't get any response from any one since last 4 days.

One of the solution is to put simple condition in First Page identification if barcode is not empty. That will split every single page containing the barcode. Then use document merging option to append on existing document when storing in Laserfiche.

That does solve the problem somehow but users will be scanning may be 10s to 100s of pages within a batch. Means the Quick Fields session will store every single page as a document in document revision area. That will make the session very heavy and storing to Laserfiche will take time as well.

Is there any way to collect all same barcode pages in one single document within document revision area instead of doing document merging option on storing to Laserfiche?
