Question

Workflow

asked on June 4, 2021 Show version history

Background:

Performing mobile load testing which is generating around 20k Laserfiche documents causing high CPU utilization . Although we are in process increasing the cores and memory of server.

Script activity in workflow is taking much of time .

Note: If less amount of documents are processed then we don't observe above .behaviour.

Any suggestions are welcomed.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Arjun,

What is the Workflow script doing?

First, are you running Laserfiche Server, Workflow Server, and SQL Server all on separate machines? If not, we highly recommend separating them so they do not fight each other for resources in higher load scenarios.

Second, why is high CPU utilization actually an issue? It is actually causing a problem? It sounds like you're suddenly invoking at least 20k workflows that trigger on Entry Creation, which means the Workflow server has a lot of work to do. If the issue is that you want that work to get done faster, the best thing to do is increase the number of processor cores/vCPUs on the Workflow Server machine, which will allow it to process more concurrent tasks.

Best,
Sam
