Question

Audio files and Transcription for Retrieval and Categorization

asked on May 27, 2021

Is anyone successfully transcribing audio/voicemail files in an automated manner and storing the resulting text along with the original audio files in Laserfiche (cloud or self-hosted)?

Once the text is transcribed, the audio files could have metadata associated with it based upon the topics in the audio/voicemail file.

Voice to text for purpose of retrieval and retention based upon the words extracted.

Thanks for any ideas or examples of implementations of this concept.

Hey Garrett,

I've seen solutions that address similar media transcription use cases implemented before. The common thread in those is using Workflow to integrate with one of the following cloud services:

When you get the transcription text back from the cloud service, you use a Workflow SDK Script to add it to the relevant entry as the "document text", which makes it full-text searchable.

For retention, you could use Workflow to parse through the text looking for keywords and such and take actions based on what you find.

Cheers!

Hi Garrett,

To add to Sam's comments, this is also something we at Laserfiche been exploring as possible native functionality in Cloud. If you're willing, I'd love to reach out for a more in-depth chat one-on-one to better understand if what we're looking into would meet the requirements for the use case you're describing.
