LF 11 saved searches possible bug

asked on May 26, 2021

Upgraded to version 11 over the weekend and discovered a possible bug.  If you click on the Saved Searches menu and select a search, LF opens the search template and immediately starts searching the repository.  You have to hit the Cancel button before you can input your search criteria.  One way around this is to click the new Search Filters menu first, and then select your saved search from the drop-down list in the Search Filters dialog.

This is an intended change. Selecting a saved Search from the top bar will immediately run that search, while opening the search filters and then selecting the saved search allows you to specify additional criteria.

Our saved searches are intended to be used for template searches and then secured by user group.  Since there are no pre-defined criteria other than which template is to be used, this behavior is really counter-productive.  Our users now have to cancel out of the automatic search so they can enter their criteria.  Alternatively, they have to re-train their own behavior and go the Search Filters screen instead of going to the Saved Searches screen.

We can discuss hiding templates by group, this way the users will only see the templates they use in the default template search feature.

I'm already doing that in the Saved Searches area; whenever I add a new saved search to that menu I am granting access to the new search item by Active Directory group.

Can someone shed some light on this. Saved searches in Pre-Version11 did not search until you had time to enter the criteria into the objects which were saved.

After version 11, when saved searches are opened the search begins right away before giving a chance to enter anything. You still have a chance to enter criteria after this though.

Is this the intended change?

Mike Grattan, did you find a solution to this? We currently use the Windows client and we're considering moving the Web client but this way of searching is counter-productive as you mentioned.

Thanks

@████████ The only 'solution' is to train your users to click on the "Search Filters" button and select their saved search from the panel that opens up.
