Question

How to apply forms signature to another pdf?

asked on May 20, 2021

The shortened end goal : To apply a signature to a PDF before being added to Laserfiche.

HR has asked for a way to have employees sign their documents before uploading them to the repository but they want the signatures to appear on the actual document itself and not just on the upload Laserfiche Form with a PDF attached to it, if that makes sense.

I know there are other ways to get this squared away outside of LF but I'd like to look into using what I have before looking outside of LF.

Thanks for your help!

Laserfiche does provide access to the signature data, allowing for re-drawing it anywhere, which is useful. But to get it on a PDF it still requires a third party library with rights to draw on a PDF.

The third party library we use is a bit costly but solid, it has been deployed to multiple customers including one that has been processing hundreds of submissions a day for over a year.

You define the size and location for it to draw the signature and then just use the standard fill PDF activity from there to fill the rest of the fields.

It does "draw" the signature, not just copy an image of it, which means if it touches the line or other characters there is no "white space" created around it.

Hello
If you have the document in Word format, you could generate it and include the signature without the need for additional applications.

Hi Chad,

What software are you using to accomplish this?

Thanks,

Danika

It's the dynamic PDF with merger (professional) library, included as a reference in WF
