Question

How many editors at a time on Admin Console?

asked on April 28, 2021 Show version history

My coworker and I got the Admin Console installed.  I created a new field and have been adding project names to a drop down list.  He started working on adding projects to the same list and I started to notice my buttons went gray.  I was no longer able to add project names and apply changes.  I am wondering if the Admin Console only allows one editor at a time per field type? Or one editor at a time using the Admin Console in general?

Thank you

Each object in the repository can only have a single person editing it at a time. Typically the application will lock the object when you start editing it and release it when you save your changes. While you have it locked other people can't lock it to edit it. This is shown in the UI with disabled edit options, or a notification that it is locked, or a notification that you have a read-only view.

The exception to this rule is with the Office integration, which allows multiple users to collaboratively edit Office documents.
