Question

Question

all users no longer able to check out documents

asked on April 15, 2021 Show version history

No users even myself with administrator are able to check-in or out documents?

It is greyed out for all.  No error codes just not able to even attempt it.

I have found solutions that suggest it is due to not having the process right but it is enabled for everyone.

Are the document Laserfiche image documents or electronic documents?  The Check Out/In is only available for electronic documents.

PDF, docx, xlsx, or any document that shows its native icon in the repository would be an electronic document and should be able to be checked out.  Image or text documents that show up with the standard Laserfiche document icon in the repository are not considered electronic documents and are not able to be checked out.

Thanks so much I think the reason this started occurring is that they started using LF snapshot.  I cannot seem to find a setting for snapshot to generate a pdf so they are able to checkout the documents and work on it.  the only formats it is giving me for snapshot is :

any ideas around this?

I'm not sure about Snapshot settings. But Snapshot fundamentally produces images, so any pdf produced by this process would just contains pictures. This type of pdf is much less useful to work with than the original document, even if it is technically editable.

If users are going to be editing the document they should leave it in its native format and not Snapshotted. What problem were they trying to solve with Snapshot?

Trying to save direct to LF was our issue, and a lot of users did not want to print as pdf then drag and drop in
