Forms 11: If User Isn't Assigned Access Rights They Can't See Form for User Task

In version 10 of Forms you did not need to add each user that would participate in a Forms process to the Access Rights section of the Forms process. Instead, you could just assign them to the User Task and they would be given the necessary rights to complete their tasks.

In Forms 11.0 if a user that is assigned a user task is not assigned access rights to the Forms process, and a form that was created with the Modern Forms designer is assigned to the user task, they will be able to see the task in their Inbox, but after clicking on it, it will show empty where the form will usually be displayed. If you check F12 Dev Tools-> Console and expand the messages it says:

This bug has been fixed with Forms 11 Update 1.https://support.laserfiche.com/kb/1014301/list-of-changes-for-forms-11-update-1

  • Users granted access to a process are able to perform user tasks for all forms. (316226)

What type of user is this (user license)? Were they assigned the task directly or through a team? We'll investigate this as a bug.

It is a full named license. They are assigned the task directly. I have tested the issue with 3 different users and am able to recreate it each time.

I should note this only happens when using a form created from the Modern Forms designer. If you use a classic form the problem is not present.

We'll investigate and should have it fixed for a Forms 11 update 11 currently scheduled for mid-May. I'd suggest adding those users as submitters in the mean time.

Thank you for raising this on the public forum. We're in the process of upgrading our infrastructure to migrate to LF11. Can you guys confirm if this only affects the processes or forms using the modern form designer? This might be a deal breaker for our 110+ business processes.

 

@████████ can you confirm if this also occurs for modern forms that use the Forms Portal as well?

@████████, yes, it only affects the processes with forms using the modern form designer. It has been filed as a bug by LF Support. I have not been able to test it with Forms Portal, but I will see if I can do that and post back here.

To confirm, the bug is only for user tasks with a layout form. Forms Portal should not have an affect on this bug, it's just about the form on the user task step.
