Question

Office Plugin Timeout?

asked on April 6, 2021

Hi All,

I am looking into an issue where the Office Plugin seems to prompt for credentials after a certain amount of time, even when the Web Client session is still good. The Web Client is set to never time out the session in both the Admin Console and the IIS application pool, but when users are working on documents for a long time (generally greater than 30 minutes), it prompts them to log in to save it again. When that prompt comes up, within the web client it is still possible to click around, open files, etc., so we know the session hasn't timed out.

Does anyone know if there is a timeout setting for the Office Plugin as well so that users don't need to re-login when they are working on documents for a long time?

Hello Anillo,
You may need to set the logout automatically, unfortunately this applies to all users.

Sorry that the console is in Spanish.

Hi Manuel,

Thank you for the response. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to control the Office Add-in timeout settings, as that is disabled so it never disconnects the inactive sessions. We've tested that the web client never gets disconnected, just the connection from the office add-in from what we can tell.

Thanks,

Cody

Hi Cody,

What version of Laserfiche is this? I do remember there being some specific changes to how the office integration handles document locks and timeouts in version 10.4.x it was mentioned in the release notes as well but can't seem to find them now. Either way it would be worth ensuring you're past 10.4.2 in terms of version (ideally go to 11) and see if that resolves your issue. I had a similar issue on some sites and upgrading LF seems to have made the office side of things much more stable.

Hope this helps!

Hi Chris,

Thank you for the response and information. I've been able to reproduce it on both versions 10.4.2 and 10.4.3, so I am thinking that the update may not have changed it for this specific item. I'll be opening a case with LF support after a bit more testing to see what they say as well. smiley

thanks,

Cody
