asked on March 15, 2021

I am trying to import a briefcase and am getting this error..

2021-03-15 05:39:15.228 Error: (0xC00503F2) There was an error creating a field.
  Name: "Bates # End"
  ID: 21
  Field type: S
  Field max. length: 40
  Function name: LcrPropCreate
  CLI error: (0xC0042335) Access denied.

This is not a field currently in Laserfiche..

What is causing the error? Thanks!

Hi Jean-

The "Access Denied" at the bottom of your error message means that whatever account you're doing the import as doesn't have rights to add the new metadata field to the repository.

I was able to get this to work by going to File->import in Laserfiche. Dragging and dropping the file into LF gave me the error above.

From my research after running into this error, it appears to not only skip over the file referenced, but many other files as well.

We had a briefcase restore that prompted with this error and showed it in the log, but 10% of the total files are missing from the restore.

I confirmed that the field mentioned is set to not allow write access. However since I do not know what other fields might be configured this way, I am manually going through all the thousands of fields and granting access to the Admin account.

Is there a less tedious way to grant or temporarily grant the admin account edit access to all fields so that the entire briefcase can be restored?
