Question

File Upload field not showing thumbnail

asked on March 9, 2021

We are using Forms 10.3, and while the File Upload on a form will show a thumbnail of a pdf, it will not show a thumbnail of a tiff.  I see in the documentation the following:

Note: Users can only view uploaded TIFF images on Internet Explorer and Edge. Users can only view uploaded PDF images on Chrome, Firefox, and Edge.

However, I am using Edge.  Any ideas why the tiff images do not show?  This is important because our users our instructed to scan invoices as tiff for use in Laserfiche, and the Forms process for invoice approval should provide an image of the invoice which is being approved.

The Edge referred in the documentation is the legacy Edge based on HTML which Forms 11 or above stops support., it is not Edge(Chromium). We will update the documentation to make it more accurate.

Thank you for the clarification.  We will instruct users to attach invoices as pdf so that the thumbnail shows, then our process can generate pages when saving the attachment to the repository via the options of the user account performing the task.  However, we would be interested in functionality where tiff thumbnails show in forms without the use of a 3rd party addon.

Browser support for TIFF images isn't the best - with many of them requiring browser plugins rather than supporting them natively:
