Question

Automatically Create and Submit a Form

asked on February 27, 2021

Is there any way to automatically fill in fields on a Form and submit without user intervention?

I am still working out a POC. I envision the process as follows:

-Quickfields processes multiple pdf forms (up to 150).

-A workflow retrieves the data and a laserfiche form is created (filled out automatically) and submitted without any user actions. Each pdf will equal one laserfiche form.

The goal is after the forms are run through quick fields, a user can open up their forms inbox and approve or deny the forms that were auto created.

Hi Anthony,

You can create a business process with message start event in Forms. Then use 'Invoke Business Process' activity in Workflow to start process with a set of initial variables.

Hi Ziyan,

Full disclosure I didn't think I explained myself correctly because it seemed so easy - but you are correct! I tested it today and was able to import a doc in the repository, add metadata to it, run a workflow with an "invoke business process" and fill out a laserfiche form. Thanks!

Hi Anthony, glad to see your question was addressed!  I am curious.  What is the use case?  Why do you need to extract form data from PDF Forms and populate them into a forms process?

Hi Franz,

This is for a project in our Attorney's Office/Justice Court. I will import documents from the Justice Court in to laserfiche and OCR'd with quickfields. Then I will auto create Laserfiche forms for each document so that the Attorney's can make recommendations and submit them back to the Justice Court for approval or denial.

Ok, I got it.  So you are using forms as the means to automate the approval process.  That's great!
