Omit folder from searches

asked on February 11, 2021

I have a public record request folder which contains responsive records and these records are retained for state retention purposes. I don't want that folder to be a part of a general repository search because the results will be duplicated with the primary record in the repository.

How do I omit this folder from searching in Avante?  Do the "browse" and "read" access rights also relate to searching rights? Is it a tag? I'm not sure how the permissions related to searches.

Thank you,

Traci

If a user doesn't have rights to read an entry, then the entry will not appear in search results, but that also means the user will not be able to access those copies.

Search permissions are just based on normal access rights, so if you have access to see an entry in the repository, then you can search for it as well, even if you can't get to it by browsing.

If you want to exclude those results, you need to make sure the user running the search doesn't have access to see them; exactly how you do that depends on your permission structure and inheritance.
