Workflow Create Exchange Item - No URL needed?

asked on February 10, 2021 Show version history

I am trying out the Create Exchange Item activity for the first time. I reached the point where you setup a connection to the server. There is a field for URL but not specification of which URL (there are many web services hosted on an exchange server)

In the documentation it just says to select type exchange and everything else is optional. So the URL is not required? How do you specify the server address so it knows how to contact it.

I was looking for some more information on what this URL might be. Trying random Exchange URLs is leading to errors and I want to get it filled out correctly.

Workflow uses the Exchange Web Services endpoint to connect. The URL is usually Https://servername/ews/exchange.asmx

Step 3 is where you select one of the Exchange servers from the list. The optional steps are for editing existing Exchange servers or adding a new one.

The activity properties assume you have configured an Exchange Server connection, similarly to how activities that connect to Forms or databases assume you have a configured Forms server connection or a data source. In case that was not done, the activity also offers "manage servers" in the drop-down list as an easy jump point to the configuration of such a server or data source.

Forms only has 1 URL though, one Application Folder in IIS, so when I am asked to enter the URL I know that it will be /Forms.

Exchange comes with many URLs, how do I know which URL to use?
