Question

import agent email attachments indication

asked on February 8, 2021

We have Laserfiche Cloud and the agent running on a local server grabbing email and importing it directly into LF. It works great and fills out a simple template very well. One difficulty we have is that the email does not seem to have an attachment indicator. Attachments can be separated automatically and/or kept with the original email but when you view the email you do not have any indication if there are attachments associated with it. One work around is doing a template search for everything with identical template features (like subject). This brings up the attachments if separately stored. The users do not like this though as it is an extra step and cumbersome when compared to "outlook". Is there a way to have an attachment indicator for the imported email in the view or listing?

Thank you for the reply Tianxia.

I was aware of the workaround you suggested but unfortunately when looking at hundreds of emails it is rather cumbersome to to select, download then open the EML file in outlook every time to check if it contains the attachment being looked for.

Thank you for putting it in the feature request list.

Hi Bill,

Import Agent does not have email attachments indicator on Cloud now. Another workaround is saving attachments with the original email and downloading the email to view the attachments.

I will pass it along to the relevant development team as a feature request.

Hi Bill, Can we have more detailed use cases of this request?

"Attachments can be separated automatically and/or kept with the original email but when you view the email you do not have any indication if there are attachments associated with it."

For example, in which kinds of situations that you have to save email and attachments separately (so that you cannot recognize which saved attachments are belonged to which email and then have to download emails), in which kinds of situations that you will come back to check the email and attachments, etc.

When talking with the users they indicate they perform a search looking for a specific email with attachments. When the emails are a part of a long chain there is typically a lot of same titles/subjects. What happens if the resulting list has emails with attachments and without attachments and they could not differentiate between the emails without going into the email and seeing if it had attachments. They users felt it would have been a more efficient process for them if the emails had some type of indication of attachments ...like a paper clip indicator that outlook and other email clients have. Thank you

We also have a customer requesting this feature for LF Cloud.
