Question

Why is my Audit Trail never showing me a chart?

asked on February 4, 2021 Show version history

I have a solid date range and can export the data from it. So, I have been resorting to doing any report reviewing in Excel as it always works nicely for me with pivot tables.

I can see the data grid, but if I choose to chart it the chart never appears. Like, running for hours, and never appears.

I have tried all sort of combinations of attributes to get it to show me something, but nothing.

My use case is monitoring my public weblink for monthly log ons and view document event types.

I would really like to be able to draw my audit capture into SQL and then promote through PowerBI!

If it takes that long, it's more likely that it failed and didn't report the failure to you. There may be more information in the event viewer. If you don't see anything, you might want to work with your SP to open a support case.

The other thing to consider is that the data is in a SQL database which you can query directly. This is an especially good option if you have access to more full-featured charting libraries.

-Brian do you have some example SQL that I could test running and see if they are more successful and useful for my situation?

I am seeing a lot of failure instances from audit trail....agh

Audit Trail's database schema is documented here. You can query the individual tables discussed in the help file or the all_events view.
