Question

Some staff can't see a parent folder of a folder they already have access to.

asked on February 3, 2021

So as part of a process, I have Workflow gives certain groups Read and Browse access to certain folders as they are made. However the people in those groups can not see the folders, they can only search for them. I'd like them to be able to drill down and find the documents without the search function.

Is there a step I am missing or do I need to have it give them rights to each and every folder above the one I want them to have access to?

In order to browse to a folder, users need access to the root/parent folders. If they have access to a subfolder but not the parent, then the path is hidden and they can only find the folders via search.

Either you'd need to create a shortcut somewhere they can browse, or give them permission to view and browse all the parent folders in the path for the target folder(s).

... fine... Man I was really hoping I was just missing something. I will add in rights to the parent folders, thanks for the help!
