Weird Issue with LF 10.4 and Windows 10

asked on January 28, 2021 Show version history

Hello All,

I have a weird issue with Laserfiche 10.4 windows client installed on a windows 10  version 1909 desktop. When scanning a document and the document is finished scanning, the scan page where it shows the scanned in document automatically minimizes itself to the taskbar. Anyone see this issue before?

We have tried several troubleshooting steps without success. Strangely enough it doesnt do this in windows 7 but only on windows 10

Thanks,

Robert

I haven't seen this specifically in LFScanning - but I have seen it in Windows 10 before.

Is it possible that tablet mode is enabled on the machine?  That can cause windows to automatically minimize when child windows are opened.

We've had this problem since we upgraded to Windows 10 several years ago and have not been able to resolve it.  We find it occurs when using the Basic Mode in Laserfiche Scanning.  I've been a Laserfiche user for 20 years and never seen a scan window automatically minimize during the scanning process or when a scan is completed.  We are upgrading to Laserfiche 11 soon, but I'm doubtful this will solve the problem as I believe it is a function of Windows 10.  We've had similar issues with Snapshot "loosing" the Laserfiche file it's targeting.  Never had any of these issues while using Windows 7 and Laserfiche 10.

Hi Carmela,

I still see this issue in Laserfiche 11. It happens in standard scanning for me. One thing I've noticed is it won't happen ever for a user in an on-prem system, but then starts happening frequently if that user's organization migrates to Laserfiche Cloud.

Curious if you ever found a solution to this.

Hi Jacob,

We upgraded to Windows 11 a while back and I haven't had the problem since.  I can only assume that may have been the fix as nothing else our tech folks tried seemed to correct it.  I've had an ongoing problem with Quickfields for over 2 years that started occurring with Windows 10 and still hasn't been resolved by either our internal folks or the vendor.  I may be retired before it ever gets figured out.

Good luck.
