Question

Link to Laserfiche Client and certain EntryID in Forms

asked on January 20, 2021

Hi,

Just exploring some options, is there a way to have a link or some custom scripting to open up the Laserfiche Client to a certain document? Like the .lfe link.

We have web client, but we are not using it yet. We are waiting for a new feature where we could point .doc documents for example, to have a custom checkout path since we use Citrix UD.

Use case, we have Business central and the users add the EntryID to the document. This then Auto opens file in Laserfiche Client. We are transfering some processes to Laserfiche Forms and they are looking for similar functionality where they can either add the entryID or we can add the EntryID to the Forms process using workflow when we know what the correct parameters are.

The web client directly links to each document by URL. You can use this Help documentation to find the link you are looking for. Basically, it uses the form

https://ServerName/laserfiche/docview.aspx?db=dbName&id=EntryID

where dbName is the name of your repository.

I don't quite understand the flow of your process, but if you have that URL and a user can add the entry ID, you now have the URL directly to that document.

Hi Jared,

Thanks, I am aware of the link that opens up a document directly and we currently use it in the Forms Process with an IFrame, but the rest of our staff is not using Web Client yet since we have Citrix UD and we can't specify an attribute on the web client settings to a custom path/drive where Office documents will be saved when checking documents in/out.

We could specify this attribute with the Thick Laserfiche client, therefore I am exploring options to open up the thick client of Laserfiche directly by clicking a link like the .lfe files workflow can create which is linked directly to an Entry ID.
