Use Laserfiche Single Sign-On for Third Party Apps?

Hi All,

In later versions of LFDS I'm aware it's possible to use 3rd party SSO providers for signing in to Laserfiche, however we've had the question from one of our clients as to whether it's possible to use the Laserfiche SSO site to sign in to 3rd party apps that support single sign-on through SAML?

For example, is it possible for the customer to open an app (external to Laserfiche) and direct the user to https://lfdsserver.mydomain.com/LFDSSTS and use this to authenticate the user to the external app? The idea being that once they are signed in to Laserfiche they won't need to sign in to the secondary app that they will be using alongside it.

Not something that's come up before so just wondering if anyone has any thoughts or ideas!

Hi Dan,

Unfortunately this won't be possible as LFDS is unable to function as a SAML provider itself.

Perfect thanks for confirming Chase. So the only solution to allow this will be to use a third-party SSO provider that both Laserfiche and the other app can use. I'll let them know

Yes I believe so. Note that Laserfiche will not keep the SAML session alive during usage though. So depending on the SAML token expiration duration, you may have to sign in to the SAML provider again if you first sign in to Laserfiche a while before signing in to other apps.
