Question

Customize DirectShare for longer times frames/folders

asked on January 11, 2021

We had an inquiry from a current client who would like to share a specific folder with documents in it with a group of individuals. Essentially, they want a folder full of resumes that will get added to/docs deleted from for external entities to access to see if a qualified candidate has come through. I was looking into direct share but it doesn't seem very feasible, with what you can share and the time limit. It's not necessarily something that users would need to download and keep for a long time, but it would be something they need to access to check in for a month or so at a time.

It's also not something they'd put on their public portal because they only want certain orgs to be able to see these resumes.

I honestly feel like I am missing an obvious solution, so any help and advice would be greatly appreciated!

While it's common to configure Public Portal to not require credentials, you can configure it so that users can enter them. That would allow them access to contents that might not be available to the public. You just set up a second row in the configuration pointing to the same repository.

Note the Direct Share currently shares a "snapshot" of the contents of the repository, so sharing a folder really just shares the current contents of the folder. New documents are not added to the share.

Well then perhaps public portal is the way to go and share a the link/credentials with the orgs they'd need. Thanks!

I'm testing with my internal cloud account and I don't see where I can configure that in Public Portal. Where would I find this?
