Folder Size for Certifying Records Destruction

asked on January 11, 2021

Do you know how I can see the folder size in Laserfiche?   I need this data for the Library of Virginia’s Certificate of Records Desctruction Form RM-3.  I have also searched Answers but have not found a way to view this information - asking Tech Support to tell me this information is not going to work.

This works in the Windows Client - I don't have the Web Client or Cloud - so I can't confirm if it does or doesn't work there.

I just right-click on the folder and select "Properties" and then will get a layout like this:

Note - if it's a large folder with lots of documents and subfolders, this can be very slow to process.

This doesn't seem to work with Laserfiche Cloud. Does anyone know if there are any other ways to find out the size of a folder in LF Cloud?

Hi Henry,

Did you find a way to get this information in Cloud?

Updating again in hopes LF Dev can weigh in - this does not seem possible in current Cloud environment. Has anyone found a way around this? If Record Retention is designed to be done by folder, why can't we see the total file size at the folder level? Seems like a big gap in usability.

Have you had any luck with this using the web client?

Not sure if it's different in Cloud, but this is possible with the on-prem Web Client. After selecting a folder, then in the right pane that shows metadata, select the Details tab. Scroll to the bottom and click Show Advanced (I believe this is limited by security), then scroll to the bottom and click View by File Stats.

Hi Pieter,

In Cloud unfortunately we do not have that option

What version are you on? We do not see this and we are using on-premise web client...

Hi Vikki-

I have a couple of versions in place in my environment. Looks like my screenshot is from 10.4, which has the option; however, I no longer see File Stats as an option in version 11 (which is also probably what Cloud uses and looks to be the same version you have).

Sorry if I got your hopes up.
