Why isn't Laserfiche OCR'ing all of the documents being uploaded to Laserfiche?

asked on January 8, 2021

Hello,

We just launched Laserfiche at my organization and started uploading documents into Laserfiche.  Only one of our licensed users when uploading has OCR'ing done automatically on her documents.  When the rest of us upload a document (there are three other people uploading documents with the same permissions and licensing), it doesn't OCR them.  When I go to manually OCR them, it doesn't seem to OCR them either.  Can anyone shed some light into why this might be happening to us?

Thanks in advance!

~Rita

What tool is being used to upload documents?  Desktop Client?  Web Client?  Forms?

In the Client- Tools - Options - Generate Text - General.  Also, you need to go to Tools - Options - New Documents - Settings and check the box to Generate searchable text.  You will need to do this for each user.  Also, you should look at the configurations options available, this will impact import duration and how accurate the OCR is at capturing text.

For WebClient, there is a similar setting for the User Options on New Document.  However, this and Forms will require the Distributed Computing Cluster to OCR your documents for you.

More detail can be found here (copy and paste the link)  I know it is version 9, but all the info for Generate Text is still applicable:

Thank you Mark! We are using the desktop client.  I'll have the team look at the above setting you mention and will look at the links you've provided as well. Thank you again!
