I tried that but it would need to be a multi dimensional array, which isn't supported. 

I think I eventually created a list of arrays, or an array of lists, which did hold two dimensional data. However, the data reader wouldn't read it, so it required a nested loop to enumerate. Which may be a technical fix but not an elegant one.
