iFilters Only Work with New Documents???

Hello,

We have recently installed a few iFilters, .msg iFilter is one of them. I was under the impression that it would now make all .msg files searchable, regardless of how or when they were imported into Laserfiche. However, searches only pull up the .msg's that were imported into Laserfiche after the iFilter installation. Is this how iFilters supposed to work or there is something extra that we need to do to make this work right? Please help!!!

I believe the key here is that the new documents were indexed after the ifilter was installed, so their contents are now included in the search catalog. You'll need to reindex for those older emails to have their contents added to the catalog, which you can do in the admin console (via All Tasks | Index | Only Previously Indexed Documents).

A quick follow-up question... We have a few documents with no text pages generated and we have proper iFilters installed for these document types. The documents have been indexed. Is it the Laserfiche Search Engine Text Extraction that makes it possible to locate these documents?
