Question

Web Client - Security Tags - Effective Rights

asked on December 21, 2020

Good Morning,

I am looking to see if anyone can give me a bit of information about viewing effective rights in Web Client 10.3.

In total, I have about 8 security tags in my repository.  I selected a document that has 2 of the security tags on it.  When I used the show security menu to view effective rights, I selected an AD group that does not have rights to any of the security tags.  The effective rights showed me that the group in question has browse, read rights on the document.

Does viewing effective rights take security tags into account?

Should I assume that since they don't have access to either tag, they cannot really see the document?

Thanks.

Effective rights are just entry access rights. Security tags are an extra layer of security. If the user is not granted the security tab, the document is inaccessible regardless of the rights on the document. If the user has the security tag, then the document is subject to entry access rights.

Thanks Miruna.  I just wanted to confirm that just because they show effective rights on the document, the tag still prevents them from seeing it.

That is correct. Not having the security tag will override entry access.
