Directory Server [Laserfiche.LicenseManager.LMFault]: Login failed for user 'sa'.

asked on December 17, 2020

This message can not be true.

I can connect to the database from the same server using this account and password with Laserfiche Administration Console and Microsoft SQL Studio.

Directory Server has an odd way of updating the credentials.

It gives you a connection string to copy, you copy the string, then enter the database info into the variables indicated by things like myDatabaseName

But it will not accept my login when every other product and software will. I am copying and pasting my password, not typing, it is correct.

Something funny is happening here.

If I try to Detach Licensing Site, it says failure to connect to SQL. What type of SQL connection is it making to perform a detach if I do not select to delete the database?

Hi Chad, are other clients like SQL Server Management Studio able to query the LFDS database using the same credentials? If so, I recommend backing up connections.config and UserSettings.config in C:\ProgramData\Laserfiche\LFDS, deleting those files, then restarting the LFDS service and re-attaching the site.

Hi Chase

First thing I verified is that I could query the first table in the LFDS database. However you just saved the day! It simply would not work all day yesterday no matter what I tried.

I backed up and removed those 2 files and setup the connection. Then to make sure it was actually fixed I created a temp account in SQL and was able to switch to using the temp account with the modify connection string option. Then successfully switch back to using sa as well.

Only thing I can think of is that the previous support company manually modified those text files in some way that corrupted out ability to update database connection information.

Thank you! Thought I was going to have to do a complete re-install but I really did not want to in this environment, it seems to be very customized.
