Question

Is it possible to manage LFDS from external?

asked on December 10, 2020

Hi all.

I have LFDS installed and I created participants users for read-only which are managed through LFDS.

All users access to the repository from outside using an URL.

Is it possible to manage participants (or LFDS) from the external? I means by using an URL and not a VPN.

E.g : http://external_url/LFDS

Thanks in advance.

Regards

I imagine it would be possible, but I'd be extremely reluctant to expose the LFDS server to the outside world like that; seems like the risks far outweigh any possible benefits.

Hi Jason,

Thanks for your help.

In this case, can we create a Form to manage LFDS?

E.g : Form to Create Participant or to reset password.

How many people have access to create participants and/or reset passwords?

In our environment access is reserved for a small number of Admin users, all of whom would have VPN access, so I've never really run into a situation like this.

However, I do know for sure that Laserfiche does not have any out-of-the-box way to perform those functions using a Forms/Workflow process.

Something else worth noting, is that if you have a public-facing STS page and set the required pieces up on the LFDS side, then you can allow users with Laserfiche accounts (i.e., not from AD or any outside system) to reset their own passwords as long as they have an email address associated with the account.

Hi Jason

Thanks for the tips.

Some people (3-5) have access to create participants.
