LF Cloud Edit in Word Online stuck in loop after logging in

asked on December 9, 2020 Show version history

I'm testing out some of the Cloud-specific functions in my SP Cloud account and am encountering a problem with the Word Online function. We have enabled Azure AD SSO successfully but don't suspect it's part of the problem, however, thought it worth mentioning.

Basically when I click Edit in Word Online in the Document Viewer it starts to open Word Online, provides me a Word Online-looking prompt to login to Office 365 so I click Login with a Work or School Account. It seems to perform an SSO login at that point because it refreshes the page without requiring me to type anything in. This is where it gets stuck in a loop. Laserfiche Cloud shows "Loading..." the the page refreshes to the Word Online logo for 1-2 seconds then refreshes back to "Loading..." and keeps cycling between these two screens. The URL doesn't seem to change at all but it remains stuck here.

Anyone else run into this?

EDIT: I tried with Excel Online with a brand new document and I does basically the same thing. I attached screenshots of that "cycle". "Loading.." then the grey initial loading screen of Excel Online then back to "Loading." The URL doesn't change between these screens as you can see.

If Edge Chromium's tracking prevention is set to "Strict" (Settings -> Privacy, search, and services), then you will see this behavior as well. Try lowering this setting or adding the site "webaccess.laserfiche.ca" to the list of exceptions.

Check your browser plug-ins. Extensions like Privacy Badger can sometimes block the Office URLs. Then try a hard refresh (Ctrl+F5).

It does work in Chrome with extensions disabled, BUT not in Edge Chromium, even with extensions disabled. Not sure if you support Edge Chromium yet but I imagine more users will be using it in the future. We can use Chrome for now and will figure out what extension was causing the issue.

Thanks.

Bravo! I had forgotten about that Edge-specific feature. Yes, the exception there fixed the problem. Thanks!
