Anyone seen issues copying data from Microsoft Excel to Forms?

posted on December 1, 2020

Having an issue where any data copied from a cell in Excel causes an error in Forms. Only if copied into Default Value, Text Above Field, Text Below Field, etc of a field configuration that is part of a Forms Table parent object.

I used Notepad++ to see if Excel is adding any special characters to the clip board and it is not.

Somehow Forms just knows it was copied from Excel and blows up, even without any special characters to make it blow up.

I am using version 10.4.5

have you tried updating these values using JS after document complete?

im curious if this has to do with at the time of on document complete the default values are not there yet.. im not sure how you are retrieving these values?  (set business process activity) or are you uploading the file to forms?

This is just while working in the designer, not while filling out the form

Hi Chad,

What browser do you use? Any special about copied value? I can copy an simple excel cell (a) to Text Above Field setting.

Copy value from formula bar should work, could you use this workaround?

We are using Chrome, was your field part of a Table parent object in forms?

Yes, copying from the formula bar does not cause the issue.

No I was just testing on simple fields, and I did see issue when paste to field inside table.

This should be a bug. I have filed internal bug to follow up. Thanks for reporting!
