Question

WebLink Open PDF Using ElectronicFile.aspx

asked on November 23, 2020

In WebLink 10.1, with the View Document Options > PDF Files unchecked, opening a PDF will open it in a new tab using ElectronicFile.aspx.  In WebLink 10.2 the PDF document is opened in a new tab using DocView.aspx.  Is there a way to configure WebLink 10.2 to use ElectronicFile.aspx?

Example PDF URL in WebLink 10.1:

http://localhost/WebLink/ElectronicFile.aspx?docid=213&dbid=0&repo=LFTest

Laserfiche has verified this is not an option in WebLink 10.2.

Laserfiche's response:

This change was apart of what was needed to correct problems WebLink had with opening PDF Files as noted in the release notes:

https://support.laserfiche.com/kb/1014123/list-of-changes-for-weblink-10-2

If you want, you can continue to use 10.1 if it does exactly what you want it to do. But, we don't have a way to change it for the newer version.

Shoot. Thanks for the heads up Barry.

In case anyone from Laserfiche is reading, I used the Weblink 8 pdf links in various iframes which keeps the user experience in my process nice and fluid. I'm having issues trying to get Weblink 10 links to work in my iframes (still researching an 'X-Frame-Options' error) but even if I got that working, the doc viewer within the iframes would make things more cumbersome for the users. Video containing form with iframes/example docs attached.

Bumping this question!

We are moving from Weblink 8 to Weblink 10 and I used to be able to generate links to directly open PDFs in the browser like this:

http://server/WeblinkSite/0/doc/entryID/Electronic.aspx

I'm now trying to figure out how to mimic that behavior in the new version. I don't want the link to go to the document viewer, just the full screen pdf.
