Question

Latest Adobe Acrobat DC issues

asked on November 6, 2020

Using LF desktop client (10.2.1.996) when users open a PDF, it now closes right away or shuts down the client all together... symptoms showed up after latest Adobe Acrobat DC (Full) updates... The Open PDF files by default using:  setting is set to: The Laserfiche Document Viewer.

If user continues to try, the document will sometimes display.

Thanks.

More info: doesn't seem to be related to the version of Adobe, nor Win 10.  Appears to be related to rendering fonts.  Docs will sometimes start to load with the wrong (script-y looking) font, then when it tries to render the correct font (usually Arial), that's when it crashes.  Happens on multiple users' PCs.

Just a note that we are having the same issue, and a ticket has been opened with our VAR and Laserfiche.  I have no resolution yet but thought I'd mention that it isn't just you :)

Thank you for your info!... in the meantime, we've uninstalled the latest DC, and reverted to an older version, then unchecked the update automatically option.

Hello,

Submitting this in case it helps someone else.

I was having the issue today where I would try to view a pdf in Laserfiche and it would appear for a split second and then close.  I recently got a new PC and had to reinstall the Adobe Creative Cloud.  When asked if I wanted to use Adobe as my default pdf viewer, apparently for some reason I said no.

I had also logged out of the creative cloud.

And......I had somehow decided to set Microsoft Edge as the default pdf viewer on my pc (not sure why I did this).

After having the issue today and battling it for awhile, I finally logged back into Creative Cloud (staying logged in), and set Adobe up as the default viewer on my pc.

The problem went away.  In my situation, it appeared that one of the following (or more):  being logged out of Adobe, not setting Adobe as the default pdf viewer on my laptop, setting Microsoft Edge as my default pdf viewer could have been the issue?

In Laserfiche, in the View Option I did have Open with "The Laserfiche Document Viewer" selected.

Christine
