Forms - Upload file type extension exclusion list

asked on October 26, 2020

Is there a simple way to *exclude* a file type extension from being uploaded on a form instead of having to list all of the allowable file types? We are seeing some HEIC files coming from iPhones. Understandably, we could put a notation on the form, but sometimes that's missed.

(Laserfiche Forms 10.4.2.381)

Thanks!

This has been supported with Forms 11 Update 2(https://support.laserfiche.com/kb/1014352/list-of-changes-for-laserfiche-forms-11-update-2), you can now configure the server level file extension blocked to block certain file extensions, this will apply to all forms.

Currently the file upload only supported allowed list. You want a exclude list because the exclude list is known but allowed list is unknown?

Thanks for your reply. We accept the standard files in our environment, so it's more logical to list the one that we don't accept rather than list out all the variations of the accepted ones. The margin of error is higher. Thanks!

That's a good call. Exclude certain type way easier than define all types allowed. Waiting for this included in future release.

I added your idea to our feature requests list.

We are currently adding a feature that allow system administrators to exclude certain file types at server level for security concern, so it will take effect for all forms. Will that be sufficient to your cases? Or you still want to configure for each file upload field?

Thanks - ideally, being able to list only excluded file types directly on the form design would be preferable, instead of having to list all the files that we do accept. For example, excluding *only* HEIC files to be uploaded. This would also alert the form submitter to correct it before submitting it right at the form level.
