Question

Signing a document within the Web Client with the Laserfiche Signing plug-in

asked on October 16, 2020

Hi All,

I am working on testing the signing of documents within Laserfiche, but within the Web Client I am getting a prompt to "Install Laserfiche Signing Plug-in", but there is no download options or anything. I already have the full client installed on the machine as well, so I'm not quite sure what is missing.

I've added a screen shot showing this. Anyone have any ideas how to get this to work?

Thanks,

Cody

Hi Cody,

This isn't as straight forward as it appears on the surface. There is a whole load of work around certificates which you need to deploy before you can use the signatures functionality.

It's explained in more detail here - https://www.laserfiche.com/support/webhelp/Laserfiche/10/en-US/administration/#../Subsystems/LFAdmin/Content/Digital_Signature_Prereqs.htm%3FTocPath%3DLaserfiche%2520Administration%2520Guide%7CMetadata%2520Administration%7CDigital%2520Signatures%7C_____1

Hope this helps!

Hi Chris,

Thank you for the reply. I am aware of the setup, but haven't tried in the web client previously so I'm trying to determine if there is an actual plugin for this, or if it is just saying it hasn't been fully set up quite yet. I haven't been able to really find any reference to the plugin that it notes unfortunately.

Thanks,

Cody

Hi Cody,

It comes as standard with Laserfiche Rio or subscription, but is an option for Avante.

Are you able to sign documents in the thick client?

Is there a LFSign.msi in your web client's install directory (by default <Program Files>\\Laserfiche\Web Access\Web Files\Signing)?

Hi Miruna,

There is a file in that location, yes. I tried running it manually on the workstation and re-launching the browser and it still gives the same thing.

Chris,

I can sign them within the Laserfiche client, yes.

Thanks,

Cody

If you can sign them in the thick client then I would suggest opening a case with support to dig a bit deeper. :-)

Hi Chris,

Yeah, it is seeming like that may be the case. I have reproduced the issue on my test system as well so it isn't isolated to just the other system I was working on. Thanks for the tips and such. smiley
