Question

annotation toolbar

asked on October 14, 2020

Hello,

I am currently using LF: 10.4.2.347

I am new to LF and trying to enable the following.

Every time I open a PDF (via WebAccess), I need to generate pages, so I can then enable the File View slider. Once I have access to this, then I proceed to slide it off, so I can access the tool bar and access the different tools.

Is there a way to have this toolbar always available when I open a PDF, instead of going through all of the above?

Thanks,

Robert

Hi Roberto,

You cannot edit PDF documents, you can only annotate image documents (TIFF Files). Generating pages will generate TIFF images which you can then annotate/edit.

This is a limiation that Adobe put on PDF documents to try and get you to buy Adobe PDF Pro.

Hope this helps explain.

Cheers!

Hi Chris,

Thanks you so much for replying.

Follow up question. If the annotate functionality can only be done with TIFF files, where/how can I make LF convert these files automatically to TIFF.

My users report they were to annotate without doing what I described. I assume this is a setting somewhere that maybe got reverted back? Would you happen to know where this is or a way to automate this conversion?

Also, after the file is converted, do I end up with a .PDF and .TIFF? If so, I assume the PDF can be delete to save/recover space, is this correct?

Thanks in advanced.

Robert

Hi Robert,

When importing a PDF, you can import and drop the PDF by default, by setting the following in options:-

This will by default, convert any incoming PDF to TIFF and drop the PDF.

Hope this helps!
