Question

Display repository document links on Form

asked on October 12, 2020

Hello,

What is the best way to list hyperlinks to repository documents associated with a Forms process on the form itself? I would also need to keep the list up-to-date with newly added documents. My main goal is to be able to open the document in the Web Client and then edit the document via the MSOffice integration. My first thought was to create a table so I could  have columns for the hyperlink and a document description, but HTML is not available as a table field type. I was also assuming I could add rows to the table via the workflow.

Thanks!!!

I recommend the iframe, especially if you can set the frame as a search so that you know you're getting up-to-date results.

That said, if you do want to put a link in a table, you can use the Radio Button type. For the first option, put your HTML code. In my experience I needed to embed a button rather than a simple hyperlink, then use JS to dynamically open the URL based on the button click (normally requires pulling a value from another field in the row, like Entry ID).

We use Single Sign On which is available with LFDS so there is no additional logon for the users with an IFrame.

Hi Craig,

Thank you for your reply. I did and I did not like having to logon to the repository. As the administration document you referenced states,

"If you use a web client URL, users must have rights to view that document in the web client, and may need to sign in to the web client beforehand, as Forms does not automatically pass on their credentials to the IFrame."

I currently use windows integrated authentication for the repository via Laserfiche Server authentication. Switching to Directory Server authentication has always been in the horizon, but  guess I need a good reason to move forward. Would that behavior change and pass credentials to the IFrame if I were using LFDS authentication?
