User turns on computer, then turns on scanner, ensures cables connected and well seated

User opens Laserfiche 10.4 and navigates to correct folder - Scan button becomes blue.

User sets initial scan into scanner, then clicks blue SCAN button.

Scan page opens, and freezes, with right sidebar showing a weird overlay/transparency.

The page is completely frozen at this stage, and cannot be X'd out. Right-clicking the icon on the taskbar sometimes works. If that doesn't, then it's a matter of going into Task Manager and selecting the scan portion of the Laserfiche program and using End Task. This is 100% repeatable on the laptop and with the scanner that only this user has used.

Scanner is a fi-7160.

Laptop is a Dell 5400 running Windows 10, updated to version 2004.

User (and IT) have reseated cables, alternated to different USB ports (to force Windows to search for hardware changes), have disconnected and shut down all devices and started fresh, have alternated different startup orders (comp/scanner/LF, Comp-LF-Scanner, etc.) All services are running properly, verified on startup after reboot. This is happening with both the scanner set up for remote work (same model) and the scanner set up for office work. The unifying point of hardware is the computer itself. The unifying effect is within Laserfiche software.

Anyone have any ideas on how to remedy this issue? I can't even get to the scanner settings to verify those or troubleshoot them! Thanks!
