Question

Quickfields Laserfiche Cap - Retrieve Fields option (What can you do with the data you retrieve?

asked on October 8, 2020

In the documentation it mentions this option for configuring the Laserfiche Capture Engine

Retrieve fields: Select this option to retrieve the document fields.

Where does this information go? How can it be used?

I tried it out and I don't see anything here after scanning

I don't see anything in my token list

Hi Chad,

I've used that functionality before to limit the documents that Quick Fields would retrieve. I believe we were looking for documents with no value for certain fields, and we were able to limit Quick Fields to only retrieving documents with those empty field values, in addition to the other constraints we put on it. I looked around in Quick Fields briefly and I don't see any other use for those fields, either.

For me, the option to restrict by fields was on a different menu. That part seems to make sense, this is on the next slide, where you can actually retrieve the fields.

Ah, this is what I was looking for. This didn't really give me any way to reference the data as tokens directly, but by assigning the matching template to the document, the fields populated on the document match the original source fields.

Then I am able to access the data as a token using the Fields parent in the Post-Processing which returns values in the fields of the classes assigned template.

It does not appear there is any way to access the data in Page Processing though.
