I am using Laserfiche Capture to process a number of documents through Quickfields and run OCR on them. Is there a way to convert colour images to B&W? It only seems to let me process colour images as colour images and B&W images as B&W. My preference is for everything to be in B&W

Hi Tegan,
Under "Pre-Classification Processing" or "Page Processing" in the Session Configuration pane, you can add a "Color Removal" activity that can be configured to convert images to black and white. You may have to mess with some of the settings within that activity, but I've used this activity before and it's worked well.
Let me know if you've tried that already and it's not working. I can post some screenshots too if that would be helpful.
How can I compensate for a grey background in a B&W document, any thoughts?
Grey is frequently a problem for me, unfortunately. First thing I would try is messing with the "Shaded Backgrounds" setting within the "Color Removal" activity. I'd try low, medium, and high and see if any of those does better than the others.
Let me know if that helps or not. Another thing you could try is Photodocs - that typically works better for me in converting color documents to black and white, including grayscale documents. But, Photodocs can't fill out field values like Quick Fields can, so it'd be great if we could get Quick Fields to do everything you're looking for.
unfortunately the color removal is ineffective, as the documents I am working on are B&W and color removal won't work on B&W.
such an ineffective system. Thanks for your help
