Question

Activation and deactivate failure

asked on September 23, 2020 Show version history

Hi all.

I'm having troubles with Quick Fields and I need your help.

I tried to update QuickField (from 9.0 to 10.3) for a customer.

QF 9.0 was activated.

Now 10.3 is installed but I can't active it. I get the error "Activation failed. [0109-QF0]".

In the event logs I don't have more information.

Using ActivationtoolNet4, I tried to deactivate the licence but I get the error "Product deactivation failed".

I tried to uninstall QF 10.3 and back to QF 9.0 but the application QF 9.0 doesn't open. I don't have error. I'm clicking on the icon but nothing happening.

The computer is a Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard.

LSAP is expired.

I don't know how to do.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards

If the client's LSAP is expired, that's what caused the activation to fail. Product activation can only be completed with a valid, active LSAP.

Deactivation should be able to be completed with an expired LSAP. However, I believe what happened is when you tried to activate 10.3, it deactivated 9.0, then failed to activate 10.3 due to expired LSAP.

The subsequent deactivation attempt failed because it was already deactivated.

You should be able to check the client's account on the LF Support site under "Activation Keys" to see the number of activations remaining for that product (if it shows "1" then the deactivation completed and you won't be able to activate again until the LSAP is brought current; if it shows no value under that column, then the deactivation didn't complete and you may need to reach out to LF Support to get the correct Host ID and Hardware Fingerprint to deactivate)

In either scenario, the customer's LSAP needs to be brought back to an active status before you can do anything.

For perpetual licensing (Avante, Rio), expired LSAP is more nuanced than "cannot activate": if LSAP is expired, you can only activate versions up to the maximum version at the time your LSAP expired

Since Quick Fields 10.3 was released in November 2017, this customer may be able to use Quick fields 10.3 if their LSAP was active at that time.

They definitely should be able to reactivate QF 9.0 since they were on that version previously. You can try activating QF 9.0 again, and/or checking the remaining activations like Dustin suggested.

If you are unable to successfully de-activate on your own and there are no activations remaining, the customer may need to renew LSAP so that you can open a support case to get assistance.

Subscription licensing will not allow activation if the subscription is not renewed.
