Feature Request: Copy and paste fields or forms from one process to another

posted on September 22, 2020

Use case: customer has forms from other processes that they would like to reuse in a new form. Instead of re-inventing the wheel, it would be more efficient if they could copy and paste the form into their new process.

Please can I chime in on this as a needed feature. Copying forms between processed would be an amazing feature, currently you have to manually rebuild the form in the other process.

Adding a +1 for this feature. Any update please from LF?

Copying one or more forms from one process to another, and selecting 'all' or some of the variables to include would be fantastic.

I'll add my voice as having wanted this feature for a long time.

One way to accomplish this for a new process is to just copy the old process which includes all of the forms. Then you can delete the process in the copy and start fresh.

The problem with copying forms from one process to another is the variable mapping with existing variables in the new process. We have heard this request before, but we need to implement a nice variable mapping UI so you can decide which variables from the form to keep, and which to update based on the new process.

I deal with this on a daily basis, and tend to use that approach Jared.

Expanding on your comment, with UI dev time being quite expensive, could we look at downloading/uploading a special CSV or XML of the specified form? Then on import you could manage conflicts or select what fields you do and don't want to include. This would be a massive efficiency improvement for VARs who want to pre-build entire 'components' of a form.

Thanks Jared, I do this now, but this specific customer has forms from more than 1 process that they would like to add to a new process, so unfortunately we had to re-create the other forms.

If it helps, I'm not too worried about getting the variables to line up. I'm more concerned about carrying over the labels, helptext, CSS classes, and any formulas that are associated with each field.
