Question

How to constrain a weblink search form to a specific template?

asked on September 22, 2020

Hi,

When creating a Weblink search form, I can select the template and all of the fields are added to the it, but these fields are shared among multiple templates. This is causing other types of records to be returned in the search. How can I specify the search to constrain the search by the template name in the search form too? Thanks.

Hi Brian,

In the Weblink Designer where you're designing your custom search, click the "Search Results" tab. Screenshot below:

Then, you'll need to add custom search syntax as a constraint to your search results. Screenshot below:

So, in this search, I'm asking users for an invoice number, and then my custom search syntax is including a template (Accounts Payable). Make sure you're looking for documents that match ALL constraints, and not ANY constraints (I believe it defaults to ANY constraints).

I've run into this exact thing before, and this is what fixed it for me. Let me know how this goes! I'm also assuming you're running Weblink 10 - I forget exactly how this part of the Designer in Weblink 9 looked, but it's probably something similar.
