Printing pdf from Electronic File Preview not working

asked on September 21, 2020 Show version history

We are having an issue with printing PDFs from the Electronic File Preview pane. This is happening in the desktop client, LF 10.3, on Windows 10 (2004). The files simply will not print and do not present an error message, nor can I find anything in the event viewer.

PDFs print fine on machines running Windows 10 (1909).

I'm thinking we need to update the acrobat plug-in that loads in the Electronic File Preview pane. But that is certainly a guess and I don't have a clue if or how that would be accomplished?

Any ideas?

Thanks

The Laserfiche desktop client uses the pdf viewer that comes with the Adobe reader (C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Acrobat\ActiveX\AcroPDF.dll on my machine). Try installing the latest Adobe reader and see if that fixes the problem.

Hi Robert,

I did that on the client machine, before I posted this. It did not fix the issue, but I also did not see any indication that the version of acrobat changed at all in the desktop client. That's why I thought Laserfiche may be referencing a different instance of acrobat.

I found this article: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/windows-10-2004-update-pdf-issues/2e94ce89-bfbf-4795-9ea2-f4884ede3744?page=1

In the responses, someone suggested that editing the preferences in Reader, fixed this issue for them. Edit > Preferences > Security (Enhanced) and then uncheck "Enable Protected Mode at Startup". But when I tried this, it disabled the ability use the Acrobat Toolbar at all in Laserfiche.
