End-of-Support Announcement for Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge Legacy

posted on September 21, 2020

Platform: Internet Explorer version 11 and lower, Microsoft Edge Legacy

Customers affected: Cloud customers and self-hosted customers accessing Laserfiche through a web browser

End of support: Laserfiche 11, Laserfiche Cloud 2021.1

With the release of Laserfiche 11 and Laserfiche Cloud 2021.1, we'll be permanently removing the support for Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge Legacy. End of support means that, with the release of Laserfiche 11, you will not be able to use Internet Explorer version 11 and lower or HTML Edge for any Laserfiche functionality.

If you are currently using Internet Explorer 11 to access Laserfiche, you will not be able to do so after upgrading to Laserfiche 11.

Recent versions of Chrome, Firefox, Chromium Edge, and, in some cases, Safari will continue to be supported.

Thanks Melissa. Can you expand on which versions of Safari won't be supported?

Hi Kris,

Safari is intended to be supported from Mac and iOS scenarios. Does that address your question?

Sure, it is probably just a phrasing thing. On first pass it seemed that only some versions of Safari would be supported. With macOS the version of Safari is typically tied to the OS so it is always good to know which version of macOS is still being covered. A lot of people clinging to High Sierra and Mojave.

Also as an aside kudos to the team - I don't know if any of you have tried using Laserfiche Forms via Safari on iPad Pro but with the new zoom feature of Safari gives you a desktop-like experience on the go. So good!

Melissa or Justin,

Just some clarification please regarding "If you are currently using Internet Explorer 11 to access Laserfiche, you will not be able to do so after upgrading to Laserfiche 11."

Does this mean that LF version 10 self-hosted sites will not continue to work in IE 11 once Laserfiche 11 is released? OR just that there will no longer be support for IE 11?

We are in the process of going to Chrome as a corporate standard but some of our mill sites will still have IE 11 due to other legacy systems.

Please advise, thanks.

Existing versions of Laserfiche will continue to work as they are. Version 11 of Laserfiche web applications will outright block use of Internet Explorer and Legacy Edge.

If IE compatibility is a concern, you might want to consider Chromium Microsoft Edge and its IE compatibility mode: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/deployedge/edge-ie-mode

Miruna,

Thank you for the response.  That was my original assumption that version 10 would continue to work, but I wanted to confirm.  Thank you for providing the additional information regarding IE compatibility options in Chromium MS Edge.  If not already under consideration by our Infrastructure Team, I will bring this to their attention.

Wishing you well!
