Question

The Global token named Entry Name is empty. In Workflow.

asked on August 27, 2020 Show version history

The Global token named Entry Name is empty. We are making a workflow and the global token Entry Name is blank. We believe the Entry Name is the Name of the document and we wanted to include the document name in an email that is going to be sent.

I have a screenshot of the workflow tokens to illustrate which Global token I am referring to:

The token in red is the on we want.

If you don't select a an entry in the Run Workflow dialog, this behavior is expected.

The same will happen if you schedule it, Workflow won't know which entry you want to work with. So you either need to run it with a condition starting rule (so it runs on the entry that satisfies the condition) or you need to use an activity like Find Entry or Search Repository to find an entry to run on.

How are you starting this workflow? Is it a condition starting rule, a schedule or are you just pressing the green play button on the Designer's toolbar?

Currently we are just pressing the Green Play button on the Designer's toolbar. However, once it is working it will be scheduled.

Thanks!

That worked except the Entry Name was always the the same the starting entry in a "For Each Entry" function but I found the "Change Starting Entry" option so each time it goes through a document it now updates the token with the current entry and works like we want it to.

Thank You Very much for getting me on the right track!!!!
