Error: "the zone is outside the bounds of the image"

asked on August 21, 2020

Everything will be fine with my classes, the zones and documents will be scanning fine. Then I will open the session up and all of my zones will have moved and be readjusted. I begin to get the error  "the zone is outside the bounds of the image". Often, when I go look at the zones they look fine, however they aren't picking up any information or reading properly.  The only solution I can find so far is to reset from previous saved versions, however this keeps occurring and I don't know why or how to fix it in program. Any suggestions? Is this a known bug?

My guess is that the sample image that you're setting up the zones on was scanned at a different DPI than the documents you're scanning. You should be able to verify DPI of the image.

On your OCR zones, you can choose to set location by pixels or by percentage. Choosing percentage should help you in this case, as it will just scale to account for DPI variations.

I would recommend trying to ensure consistent DPI settings so that everything is scanned at the same resolution. I normally go with 300 dpi.

Greetings - thank you for the tip.  I was hitting "The zone is outside the bounds of the image" error and changing the set location from "by pixels" to "by percentage" fixed the issue.  In my case, I have an existing TIFF composed of many pages of documents and the sample image I created was just one page exported from this, thus they are the same DPI.  Not sure why, but the change recommended eliminated the error and the documents processed.

Best regards,

Jeff

Thank you - this helped me too.  It wasn't a huge issue, but it was a pain to keep seeing errors.
