Question

install / config obdc drivers on local machine to create workflow query

asked on August 17, 2020

need some info on OBDC connection for workflow 10.4.1.233

currently trying to create a workflow to query an excel spreadsheet or access db to populate field data based on other field data in a template. it should be noted we are using MS office 365.

so i am not even able to create OBDC connection on local computer keep getting error the requested 'OBDC' driver is not installed. [0102-LPD15] unable to find any info on LF support site. I am assuming the OBDC Drivers need to be installed on the local machine? i have installed and uninstalled numerous times and keep getting the error that driver is not installed when we try to config custom query in workflow.

Local computer - I am using windows 10 64bit have LF client 10.4 i have workflow installed as well as workflow administrator.

is it possible there are OBDC driver compatibility issues with o365?

O365 shouldn't matter in this case as ODBC data sources can only use local files. You will need to install Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 to get the x64 ODBC drivers for Office.

As a note, we have found that in the new version we can only query and populate Access (or SQL) but no longer Excel. This used to work, but not any longer. When we upgraded we had to redo all of our ODBC connections after installing Access (Office) to get it to work. There are two ODBC configurations just type ODBC in the search box by the start button and you will see them both, then you can choose the correct 64bit one.

We have slowly moved everything away from Access to SQL since it is much more stable.

We installed OBDC driver on the Workflow server and the issue was resolved. Thanks everyone!
